Summary of Improvements in SAM-LEAP5 version 5.30c

There are many improvements in version 5.30c, of which the main one is the new post-tensioned beams module. Others are in the areas of:

Analysis Module Enhancements

  • Interface with Post-tensioned Beam design module B.05 has been added.
    • Beams defined in the new post-tensioned beam module B.05 (see below) may be assigned as section data in the same manner as other SAM-LEAP5 beam module. These beams may be multiple spans.
    • Tendons defined in B.05 are automatically generated in the analysis module on assignment of the beam.
  • Tendon definition with loss calculations to Eurocode versions has been added.
    • Pre-stressed tendons may now be incorporated into Eurocode analysis models, and the losses calculated in accordance with EN 1992-1-1 and 1992-2.
  • Tendon eccentricity within duct added
    • Pre-stressed tendons may have an 'eccentricity within duct' defined. An appropriate eccentricity is then calculated for all points along the tendon according to its profile.

Section Module Enhancements

  • Additional Steel Section Libraries
    • Arcelor steel sections ranges added to steel section definition
    • Japanese H Section range added to steel section definition
  • Selection of Section library now available independently from Design Code used
    • Any section library can be used with any Design Code. For example the Arcelor section may be used for generation of data when the BS 5400 design code is selected.
  • Section Design to AS 5100
    • The Australian version has been updated from Austroads '92 to AS 5100

Beam Module Enhancements

  • New Post-tensioned Concrete Beam Design module B.05 developed for the BS 5400 design code.

  • Beam Design to AS 5100
    • The Australian version of the pre-tensioned beam design module B.03 has been updated from Austroads '92 to AS 5100.

General Enhancements

  • New Project Templates feature added
    • Project Templates can contain default data settings for 'Job Titles', 'Units' and 'Material Properties'. Project templates are provided so that some identical initial settings can be readily applied to all the model data (either .sam or .sst files) in a given project for which many SAM models are to be created.
